Sibling Love

In honor of Valentines day, I wanted to share exciting news that Ezra is expecting a baby brother! (Due end of May) Ezra can’t wait to be a big brother and show him all his favorite things. They’ll be 3.5 years apart.

Ezra often asks to read Andre, The Best Big Brother, together. Andre goes through the normal emotions of excitement, confusion, loss, and then finds purpose and joy helping with baby’s needs at home. I’m anticipating many of these same emotions with Ezra when our baby comes. I hope this book helps to prepare him (and us) a little!

Not to leave out any new sisters, my friend Becky recommended Sisters First. Her four-year-old daughter became a big sister last year.

In this story, a girl makes a magic wish for a little sister. But when baby arrives, the older sister wonders “when will being a big sister be fun?” Overtime, the little sister grows and they can do more things together (playground, baking, dressing, and make-believe). The book can help siblings better understand the progression of time and changes to come.
